Blacksmithing has always been an expensive profession, that not always lives up to its potential. At Level 70, one of the best ways to make money are through things like chains to hold your weapon on through a Disarm. Since the release of Wrath of the Lich King, adding craftable epics and PvP gear that people will actually want to buy are the new targetable concepts of this profession, new paths with their profession masteries, are making it possible for Blacksmiths to make gold with their craft.
You can now add sockets to craftable items. You cant sell belts that aren’t socketed, and you must do sockets on weapons and gear through trade windows, adding a trade and service aspect to the profession that was not there before. You will also be able to socket your own bracers and gloves with bonuses that are better than most enchants out there. Blacksmithing benefits first of all from the new socketing of items that blacksmiths can perform.
Also, blacksmiths will now be able to craft epic BoE items and sell them at auction. While they are not quite on par with raid quality items, they are the easiest to achieve epic items in the game and will still reward decent profits for most blacksmiths because so many players still do not go on raids to get those high end items.
The numerous changes will benefit Blacksmithing overall, they are not enough to boost the gold making potential that much but they add new depth and levels to the profession that were not there before. If you are a blacksmith, it may be well worth your time to continue leveling towards 450 for these new options that were not previously available.
Blacksmithing is an old professional staple – learn what you need to be doing to keep up with the new content up to Skill 450 at WotLKSecrets.com today.
